Businesses thrive in an uncertain future by knowing their customers well. Today, we treat customers based on just a few segments. We may not know if they are in the right programs, the right rate plan, or if a specific home is adopting EVs and PVs. So how are we going to manage the grid load capacity and load shapes? How are we going to serve customers if someday they can get services elsewhere? In the future, other entities could step in and own the role of trusted energy provider if utilities cannot capitalize on their incumbent position. We have an immense opportunity with the energy data we already have to integrate into our customer’s lives more than ever before.
